Laying after broken broodiness.

One of my 10 month old pullets Hazel went broody last month I broke her within a Day , For two days now she been acting like she needs to lay sitting in the nesting box for about an hour no egg she gets out goes about her normal day eating, drinking ,pooping ect .. trys the nesting box thing agian still no egg ... I Don't believe she is egg bound ....Could she just be trying to push out a huge egg ? I didn't feel anything when I checked her I'm a little concerned for her but not extremely worried seeing how she's still eating,pooping ect .. she does seam a wee bit less active then normal like sun bathing more then usual but at the same time she's first to jump up for a blueberry lol

I'm confused by her behavior. I guess it's a watch and wait thing at this point .

She's still harboring broody hormones. You need to deprive her of nest access or the hormones will just keep hanging on.

It would be easier on you to simply give her another day or so in the broody cage.

The test for being "broken" of broodiness is when you release a hen from the broody cage, she shows no interest in returning to the nest. Typically, a broken broody won't show interest in a nest to begin laying again until ten days to two weeks after being broken.

Sorry I should have been more clear since I broke her this is her first time returning to the nesting boxes .and I broke her February 8th so it has been over a month since then

She might be coming back into lay slowly... some of my hens, when coming back into lay, will visit nest boxes repeatedly or sit in them for a few days or a week with no result, and then one day, eggs start appearing again.

Ok im starting think she maybe egg bound she has now started vent pulsating and Stumbling I'm soaking her bottom in warm bathes hoping it will help her

Hello sorry I have discovered its something way more serious I now have lost most of my flock to I believe to markes disease and still losing them none have had exactly the same symptoms of each other some take longer then others to show any sort of sickness and some I have just found dead after being perfectly fine the day before .... think I'm going to give my heart a break and try chicken keeping some time in the future

Sorry to hear about that! Might want to see about sending any further deceased birds for necropsy to a vet or state lab to figure out exactly what caused the deaths, especially if you are considering trying again in the future, as you don't want to infect a future flock if there really is something in the environment.

Yes I have thought about that but also I'm currently in a temp living situation where I'm at at the moment, my thoughts are I would try agian a year or two down the road when life isn't throughing such steep mountains to climb at me .
