Leaking Nipples

I have the Columbus aqua horizontal nipples and they do seem to be leaking! We even installed a little foam circle to help secure the connection, after one nipple leaked so bad into the coop. But we are still having leaks. Thinking of somehow attaching a drip pan underneath the bucket, but haven't quite figured out how yet.

Is the nipple itself leaking? Or is the hole in bucket leaking around the nipple? I drilled one a hole a little funny and had a drop that way but got a seal by wrapping the threads with teflon tape. You could also use silicone if you have some kicking around in the garage and you don't mind permanently attaching the nipple.

It appears to be the nipples themselves!

If you get debris in the nipples, like dirt or plastic shavings from drilling the hole, they will leak. You can try cleaning them out. Also remember not to screw them in all the way. Leave them clear of the bucket or pipe by a few threads.
