That bin is not really big enough for the number of chicks.

What are the dimensions? This article I wrote talks about how much Sq, footage chicks need as they grow.It may look small but it's a 200 qt bin, I've never had issues before?
It's 50 gal so, 39-3/4 in. x 21-1/2 in. x 17-7/8. This is only used for their first 4 weeks or little less, depending on behaviors/growth. I have a 2nd 50 gal bin that I have sometimes moved other chicks to before I can put them in the outdoor brooder box which is huge. I'm in Florida with warmer weather, so as soon as they've got their feathers and this time of year....they go outsideWhat are the dimensions? The Ultimate Guide to Setting Up a Chick Brooder
Gottcha. If I did my math correctly, thats almost 6 sq. ft, so it should be large enough for 6 chicks, from 4-8 weeks. As long as you can get them a larger brooder after 4 weeks, that should be fine. It's 50 gal so, 39-3/4 in. x 21-1/2 in. x 17-7/8. Thanks! They'll have a ridiculous amount of room outside, and the sooner they go out, the better for them IMO. This isn't my first time with chicks or chickens, just the first time having to go out of town, RIGHT after a hatch. The timing is terribleGottcha. Sounds like you have a great setup for them! A friend of mine has a similar setup, I agree that is better for them to be outside. I too would be worried leaving right after a hatch. Thanks! We have 2 large 10 x 10 coops with large runs on each and an outdoor brooder box built to be predator proof and fellow chicken proof, haha. 3rd coop coming soon.....![]()
My 8 chicks will be 4 and 5 days old on Friday and unfortunately, I have to go out of town for that night. I need to leave Friday morning and I'll return Saturday afternoon. Do you have any tips or suggestions since I'll have no one here to check on them?
I'll clean and replace all food, water and scoop out the poop Friday morning. Attached is a picture of their brooder box.
Thanks so much!Mine are the same age I have the same set up they should be fine I've left mine over night at this age and they were fine

Good luck with your babies!
It just looks like they have very little 'running around' room(space not taken up by heater/feeder/waterer)....and can they eat those pellets? It may look small but it's a 200 qt bin, I've never had issues before?
