I was wondering how many of you all use leg banding and if you would recommend it? I have not put bands on my babies yet mainly because I know at the vet where I work we take of LOTS of the metal bands put on parrots and other pet birds because of the number of broken legs we have seen due to these birds getting their metal bands caught in toys when playing. Obviously I don't forsee my chickens hanging upside down in their cages by rope toys so was thinking maybe I should band them ? Any opinions are welcome!! Thanks guys !!

Unless you plan on breeding a certain breed or line banding is not needed. Chickens are mostly banded with plastic bandettes. There is alot of info here on BYC on banding do a search you will have all your questions answered.
