My silkie chicks are 17 days old today and so I decided to start banding them for breeding and show purposes.....

Jiffy wing bands are an easier, less obtrusive, and a much less complicated method of identification. By using numbers and colors of wing bands you can easily differentiate 1,000s of different birds.

I would do a quick Google search but I vaguely remember someone mentioning it before.

One of my hens has been wearing the same band on her leg since she was a chick (don't worry, I checked when she got bigger and it moves freely but stays on). Ours were the spiral bands.
Honestly not sure why she still has it on, we can tell her apart just fine... lol
