Well- I would pay top dollar for say- project eggs. Or high quality breeder birds eggs- like Tuffoldhen's or Bamachicken' s Orps.The breeder has something I want and they put years of work in to it. TLC.

That is not the case here. I hate seeing people get taken. It hits me on a personal /and business sore spot.

She isn't wrong if people are willing to pay that. I've been in auctions here where the price for project or UK birds were higher! As I said MY egg money! LOL My hatch rate was cruddy on some auctions but that was what I was willing to pay for a UK bird type!!! Plus other problems cropping up in grow outs!!! I sucked it up as to an experience! Project birds in Brahma have gone higher!!!!

If you keep the supply low, the demand will be high & the prices will be too. Once everyone & their mother has them and they in turn start selling them on eBay and other places online--the supply goes up and the prices plummet. This spring you couldn't touch Coronation eggs for less than $150 or so per auction. Now, the auctions are starting at $9.99 a piece. I've tried to stay away from the fads and focus on rare breeds more from a preservation perspective.

Just my opinion.
