This is a cochin chick that recently hatched. I have noticed that my chicks usually start with a hint of red which increases as they mature and molt. When they reach about three to five months, the hens will actually start to loose color. As adults, my hens only have a small hint of red left ( usually on the face or back ). My roosters however develope more and more red as they molt. I have seen other people post pictures of Lemon Blue hens with lots of red/yellow coloring. I wonder why my hens always seem to loose it.
Obviously, I am hoping this little guy turns out to be a rooster.
