~Lenore the Cuckoo Marans~[Integration]~{17 weeks}

i know i havent updated in a while. lenore is now 6 weeks old, and lives in the coop. i asked for an enormous box at a discount shoe store - it is very large. lenore stays in that, inside the coop. during the day she is in the run, and the bigger chickens are free ranging - just now, i made it so shes free ranging and the others are in the run - im surprised, usually they get outta their run. they havent been in it for a long time so i am guessing they are exploring. lenore doesnt like me very much anymore. she doesnt follow me like she used to and hates being held - but doesnt mind being perched on my shoulder/finger. she is very good at finding food for herself (when shes free ranging) and lately i have seen her eating more, which is nice, since she will grow up faster... than she is. these are the pics of her today on the monkey bars:

Have you thought about how, or if , your going to integrate her?

right now i am seeing how your integrating turns out

i am getting a lot of good ideas from what you're doing. our house has been on the market for 2 months now - and hasnt sold - nor does it look likely. if it does, i hear putting all the chickens in a enviroment they are not familiar with, takes pressure off the little one trying to fit in. but if not - i think i am not ready to let Lenore stay with the bigger ones until Lenore starts laying

If you have read my thread today, I can't say there's going to be anything helpful there since it seems as though I have completly failed.
I think waiting till she is quite a bit older may very well be a great Idea.

lenore's gone. fajita was attacked by a cat today and there were feathers of hers everywhere. no feathers of lenore's. lenore is just gone, the door to her run still secured. i looked everywhere - now its time to put up some flyers around the neighborhood. i loved her very much.

You may be surpised....I though I lost my NN when a hawk got to one of my birds but she turned up on her own that night. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you! keep us posted. DId she have a way to get out of teh run???

Its funny because my NN will actually talk to me, so when I thought a hawk had taken her away, I stayed hoem and walked around my small yard, calling and calling her. NOTHING. But she turned up.

I hope this has a happy ending.

i have had a happy ending before when my chick gordita got chased by a cat into my neighbor's yard. i sure hope this is a happy ending. i posted a ad on craigslist and put flyers around my block. i know which cat attacked my fajita - it was a stray. luckily fajita isnt hurt, but has many feathers missing now. hopefully she will be found.

Oh Rosy, I am so sorry to hear, I hope she comes home.

Is your other chicken ok, or was it a fatal attack? Oh I feel for you so, I only have 2 plus two chickies that were just born last week, so I can so relate.
