Ya'll are just too much!

I think it's precious! I hope your new babe does well.

today i let her outside - this time with gordita (the jealous EE) it was so funny. lenore was just going about her business, finding bugs scratching in the dirt - when the chickens were slowly approaching her. i was supervising closely to see if they were going to peck at her. she would go their direction and they would scurry away. they finally got the courage to get close. they were looking for food with her and beaks got very close. gordita would occasionally find a bug or something and lenore would take it straight from her beak!! it was really cute. i watched this weird and hilarious behavior for about an hour. the food was out and so lenore had eating buddies which i am sure she has missed. i went inside for a phone call and came right back out. i was watching them while on the phone and fajita (the last in the pecking order) saw lenores new coming feathers (which are cuckoo) so she went PECK!(she pecks at anything like a dot) it wasnt that hard - really it wasnt. but lenore screamed and went running to mommy (me) i will try again tommorow. i took a couple of pics of them getting along - i got a movie or 2, but i dont know how to load those. OH! i almost forgot... when they were eating together they kept going around and around in circles because gordita kept scooting to the right (since lenore was on her left). i hope lenore doesnt hold a grudge.... i really want to see more!!

now - fajita charges so i dont let them together, my dominant hen, gordita, surprisingly doesnt mind. although she does get quite jealous when i am holding fajita. here are some pics of lenore and a pic of gordita and fajita today (like 20 min ago)

fajita is the black cochin and gordita is the easter egger/ameraucana (i dont know)

i guess lenore is just a bit of a runt then, i mean i kind of expected her to be, being a lone chick and everything, oh well, i guess she'll just have to be inside with me longer until she gets to be around the same size as the other chickens (which will take a while, since shes a runt

these are pictures took just seconds ago... she turns 4 weeks on sunday, and she is just getting her feathers, i think i'll call it forgotten lore syndrome (forgotten lore is a line in edgar allen poes "the raven") she has however, getting a comb, which is scaring me, because i dont want to get a rooster.

this is of behind her where you can see her new feathers coming in, (you can see my empty tea bottle in the background):

and this is of her new beak, which she still hasnt grown into:
