~Lenore the Cuckoo Marans~[Integration]~{17 weeks}

You heard it here, folks - didn't I tell you we'd be hearing some interesting stories about Miss Lenore?

Glad your little one has developed an appetite for *something*. Good luck with her!

Susan

thanks susan! its great - she has been eating and has been doing much better! her poop is still a little runny but hopefully that is normal... i am thinking that this thread could be like esther and winnie fluff to feathers

Hurray for spider eating chickens!

Our Gold Laced Wynadotte Lacey has picked up the habit as well

except with the very tiny spiders that seem to be all over the room their brooder is in. The little spiders unknowingly lower themselves into the brooder...AND THEIR DOOM!! Lacey pecks them out of the air so fast I'm not sure the other two girls have even *seen* one yet, ha!

Hey its good to see some people from oregon also. I have 5 eggs that are supposed to hatch today! I got impatient and ordered some chicks from lazy 54 farm in Hubbard. It was great he takes your order and waits until he gets enough for an order. So you don't have to buy 25 chicks. They are coming on the 9th so I am excited to have chicks one way or another.

i have a quaker parrot named pedro - he and lenore actually share the same hatch date except he is 2 years older than her. and yes - it was a compliment i thought that was VERY cool. lenore turned a week 2 days ago and her big girl feathers are coming in on her wings. she is a lot more energetic than she was when i first got her as well.

these are some pictures of her new feathers. she loves them - now instead of running over to me she hops while flapping - getting her a little bit off the ground

she is also VERY indepedent now. i will try to hold her and she'll run away somewhat... once i have her she squirms and goes exploring. oh darn! i wanted a chicken who liked me LOL. my other chickens do the same thing!! maybe shes been spending too much time with them!! LOL

I hand fed lots of quakers when I was in my parrot phase. They were very active and curious but they all ended up biters.
Hows yours?

he is very sweet - to me. he was once sweet to everyone but once he hit puberty he can really bite.pedro was hand fed too. he can be a major jerk sometimes - even to me!

i sent a pic of lenore to my dad, and he said it looked like she had an egg coming out of her already. of course, this is just her white fluff.
