Let the showgirl odyssey begin! HATCHING 5/27 C'Mon in!!

So, Insiderart, is your tipping-the-incubator working out well?
I'm just hand turning. Makes me feel like I'm more actively participating, I guess.
I think I'm gonna candle tonight. I almost don't want to - I hate finding "duds" and I want all the silkies to hatch. Wish me luck!

Hey tipping is the bomb! Sooo much easier! The block I am sticking under it is only about 3", but that's still enough.

On a scarier note last night I decided to up the humidity. For some insane reason I decided to add 2x the water I normally add! Eeeeep! I somehow got it all on one of the showgirl cartons.. I woke up this morning to find 6 of the showgirl eggs in a wet carton. I moved them to a dry carton I hope they are ok! We'll find out soon I'll probably candle tonight or tomorrow...

Ok Day 8. Tonight I candled the showgirl/silkie eggs. I am pleased to report 13 developing eggs, 4 ???'s that I left in there (most likely yolkers), and 1 quitter (blood ring). So 13/18 so far isn't bad for shipped eggs.

My daughter got to watch the candling tonight and thought it was way too cool to be able to see the little chick moving around inside the egg.

So how's it going for everyone else?

Was this the silkies?!??!?! if so, we plan on candling ours tonight and we're on our 10th day, I'm guessing we should be seeing something significant in each egg by now huh?

Hi!

My Serama eggs went under the Broody last night around nine--so we should be hatching right about the same time.

There were eight of them.

Wait, wait, I just counted this. Today is the 16th, right? So if you put them in the incubator yesterday that would be the 15th? So if they hatch on the 27th they have incubated 12 days?

Am I missing something? I know you said you can't wait, but don't you have to wait longer than that?

Catherine

Ok, now I understand. I didn't realize that your original post was on May 6.

Sorry!

So anyway, my eggs won't be due until June.

It was the silkie/showgirls I put in when I started this thread. Easy to see development at this stage.

It took me a while to "learn" what I was seeing at this stage. Also until I got a really bright candling device I wasn't able to see as well either.

I have a really bright LED flashlight in a box shooting up through a hole, and I put a LED penlight on the top.

Try again at day 10 or 14 you should really be able to see a lot of dark stuff by then.
