Hello --
We inherited two chickens a couple of months ago. Things have been okay so far. Yesterday our Red passed what I guess is a "soft-shelled" egg, all insides and no shell. Today she is very lethargic, sits down a lot, and is generally not herself. We picked her up, and tried to feel for a bound egg, but we don't know what to feel for.
This is what we know:
- sex-linked red
- "cascade organic" feed
- small handful of scratch a day
- she has access to oyster shells, don't know how much she eats
- she lays a biiig egg every four days or so
I guess my questions are:
- where do you feel for a bound egg?
- is there a good poultry vet in portland, oregon?
Thanks so much!
