Lethargic goose; not eating. Please help!

Good! I’m happy that I was of some help to you. :highfive: I’m sure that she will get better, you are a good animal parent.
Best of luck to y’all. :hugs

Update on Sniper! :)
She's improved so so so much! I'd say she's nearly back to her normal self now. Her appetite is improving tremendously, she's vocal again, and she's a lot more active. I had her out in the yard with me earlier this evening and she was following me around like she usually does. Still no eggs since she started getting sick, but I feel like she'll lay one again soon, given she's feeling so much better. Either way, I'm so glad to see her back to normal!

Thanks again for helping Sniper out! :hugs

I’m so happy she is doing better!!! I’m glad we where able to figure out the problem :highfive: Your goose is lucky to have a good owner like you. Let me know when she is 100% and I would love to see some pictures of her if you don’t mind. :D

Sure thing! Here she is :D
I took these just a few hours ago.

Hi! I just found this post as my american buff is always sleepy and doesn't eat much. So, you treated yours with Sav-A-Chick, diatomaceous-earth-food-grade and appel cider vinagar? Thanks.

I honestly think she has Mycotoxicosis here isn’t a link that explains it.

I’m glad she is improving though! I’m not the one there with her so please read on it and tell me if you think that is what she has.
Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that your comment and link still helped me in 2024.
I googled "lethargic goose not eating" and after much searching, your reply came up. The vet confirmed no worms or other pathogens.
I live in Australia where we've had a strange summer of really hot days followed by torrential thunderstorms every day for a month. My gander has been getting sicker and more sookie, refusing all food. He mainly eats at night out of a large foot treadle bin. My goose mainly eats during the day out of a lidded bucket I keep inside the house. So your suggestion of mouldy feed resonated.
I emptied all the food containers, washed out with disinfectant and bought fresh feed. In the large treadle bin I've put an airtight plastic box that I close when they're let out every morning and take the lid off (still inside the treadle bin) each night.
Within a day my gander was starting to eat again. It's now 6 days and he's honking and flapping and running about.
So thank you for posting this all those years ago. I wanted you to know that it's still saving geese!
All the best from Australia.
