Update on Sniper!
She's improved so so so much! I'd say she's nearly back to her normal self now. Her appetite is improving tremendously, she's vocal again, and she's a lot more active. I had her out in the yard with me earlier this evening and she was following me around like she usually does. Still no eggs since she started getting sick, but I feel like she'll lay one again soon, given she's feeling so much better. Either way, I'm so glad to see her back to normal!

My goose has started the same has not ate in a week I started him in poly vi sol . But he just won’t eat

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that your comment and link still helped me in 2024.
I googled "lethargic goose not eating" and after much searching, your reply came up. The vet confirmed no worms or other pathogens.
I live in Australia where we've had a strange summer of really hot days followed by torrential thunderstorms every day for a month. My gander has been getting sicker and more sookie, refusing all food. He mainly eats at night out of a large foot treadle bin. My goose mainly eats during the day out of a lidded bucket I keep inside the house. So your suggestion of mouldy feed resonated.
I emptied all the food containers, washed out with disinfectant and bought fresh feed. In the large treadle bin I've put an airtight plastic box that I close when they're let out every morning and take the lid off (still inside the treadle bin) each night.
Within a day my gander was starting to eat again. It's now 6 days and he's honking and flapping and running about.
So thank you for posting this all those years ago. I wanted you to know that it's still saving geese!
