I have a sweet young Brahma that is not well. I have been watching her the last few days and this morning I picked her up to discover she has something hard around her face. I am posting a picture to see if you have seen anything like it. I checked her vent and that looks fine but this calcification looks a bit like pictures I’ve seen of lice 😭 HELP!

They are lice eggs. Use coconut oil to remove them. Then use Permethrin dust to dust your Brahma, head to toe and avoid the eyes.
I recommend that you closely inspect all your birds for external parasites, especially the vent area. You will also have to treat the inside of the coop, nest boxes and roosts. Then repeat dusting your birds/coop in 10 days to kill lice hatched from eggs missed in the initial dusting.

So disgusting and thank you for the quick response. We have attacked this as suggested and treated all the birds. I am feeling relieved (but still grossed out) as I had a couple listless birds that seem better already. Thank you!!
