Let's compare gas prices

$3.30 for the cheap stuff. Hey, Ethanol is cheaper: $3.16. First time I saw it in SC: yesterday. Haven't seen many hybreds, though. Remember the gas lines in the 70's? Why isn't that happening now? I think we're a bunch of cattle! (no, offense to real cows) I guess this is the solution for all jobs going over seas. Can't afford gas to drive to work? All commerce turns local. Anybody want to buy some eggs, a chicken, a goat? I got apples, nectarines, grapes, prickly pear. Growing sweet 'taters, maters, cukes. Bought a freezer; dug a root celler. Saw this coming in the rear view mirror, while I was headed home on fumes. At least, my family's eating. Seriously, simple is better. But, dang, if it ain't hard work.

Diesel here was 4.19 last I saw. I havnt been to town for a few days though. We have decided we will just stay home most of the summer and work on our yard and garden. The boat and fifth wheel won't see much action this summer.

Its so sad. Next year will just be worse. I hate to think about just selling it all. Anyone out there thinking about that?

Ok here in East Texas, the diesel was 4.00 a gal WITH the Walmart card for 3 cents off! Now other stations diesel was 4.10 a gal!!
This is absolutly crazy! There is NO shortage, someone needs to do something in our goverment.
We are selling off the horses, goats etc.. keeping chickens and cows only. The feed prices are too high. I would like to buy a hybrid suv, but can't afford the payment or insurance in addition to what we already have. Currently it's two 1 ton dually's! OUCH!
Not sure how much hay we will be able to bale due to the increase in price too. so it's looking pretty bad here.

thechickenchick, our boat will not see many fishing trips this year either. We keep it in a marina on Lake Michigan which is a 1hr and 15 min. drive for us to get there then you have to pay for the gas for the boat. It's a 32 ft. salmon fishing boat that uses lots of gas. If gas gets too much out of hand, we will have to sell it, but who would buy it???? Nobody wants the gas bill or the marina bill!!!!

$3.45 a gal. for regular unleaded and $4.15 a gal. for diesel here in Southside Virginia. (Danville, Martinsville area)

$3.59 in Gates, NC and $3.45 in Suffolk, VA just 10 miles away.

DH has the minivan to drive the 55 miles to work every day on the navy base in Norfolk, I have the Ram 1500. I think I use almost as much gas as he does in a week just taking the kids to school! They're gonna have to start waking up earlier and riding the bus!

We've got a jersey heifer waiting to be bred, two steers, chickens and other fowl, and some goats to milk/eat as well as a couple sheep. We're growing a big ol' garden, working on a set up to process our own meat and buying a used freezer to store all that stuff in! Kids get a bigger pool this year and we're done! Staying home alllllll summer long working the land and swimming to stay cool (and to keep the air conditioning cost as low as possible!). This gas problem is ridiculous!!!!!!!
