Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

This is my first time out incubating geese eggs...I have 11 Sebastopol eggs in my incubator. I set them 3/13, candled them yesterday & 10 are developing. My young brown Chinese (1 year old) started laying in January but she didn't have a mate at the time so they weren't fertile...didn't stop her from sitting on the 15 or 16 eggs she laid

I finally stole the eggs from her & got her a mate about a month ago. She has started laying again and has laid an egg everyday for 6 days straight. I'm trying to decide if I should put them in my incubator or leave them for her. I was told that Chinese do not make good mothers & won't hatch their eggs out most of the time, but she is very protective of her nest as is her mate. To complicate things, my Rouen pair is in the same pen and the hen has started laying in the same nest. I also have two 5 month old Muscoveys in there who are not laying yet, but are constantly trying to sit on the eggs. Should I leave the eggs alone & hope for the best or should I pull them & put them in my incubator?

Don't always go by what people say certain breeds will or will not do. If you think she seems serious- let her have a few, and put a couple in the bator. If she quits- snag the eggs and add them to the others. If she sets- great!

Ok. Great. Thank you very much for the quick reply.
Did you candle them to see if they had internally pipped before putting them into lock down? I don't move mine to the hatcher till they are tapping the shell trying to pip externally. That way, I have a pretty decent idea when to expect a gosling.

I put an egg into lockdown yesterday and it was externally pipped by last night. The gosling made some progress today, but not as much as I would like. So, I will check it in a bit and if it hasn't gotten any further, quickly remove it from the incubator and assess the situation. If their is still blood in the membrane, I will moisten it and put the egg back into the hatcher....making sure the humidity is over 80% to keep the membrane from drying out on me.
