Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

my incubators are forced air. i think they are chineese ( got them from ebay). thought when i bought them that it might be a little early for the ducks and geese but i figured i'd try any way. 2 are fertile. i turn 3x daily they're on their sides. the calls i tried upright (pointy end down, like chicken eggs, in an auto turner). yeah, i've read the hatching guide and i agree it's good.

i've notice some conflicting info about humidity, spritzing, and cooling for the ducks and geese.... so i hope by following and joining this thread maybe i'll get some.

thanks,

don

I tried to hatch out 4 mallard, 2 hatched and 2 were fully feathered but didn't pip and died in the shell. Makes me wonder, is there some sort of lethality allele in certain duck breeds that we don't know about? Or is it just a weak/underdeveloped chick that has lung probs and can't breathe?

I do all my stuff in the 'bator. It's been full since January!

Our bators are full until the geese are done. If I get too exhausted with it, I might let the girls have some to hatch. These are just some of the ones from this week I am not hatching. Spent all afternoon blowing them out.

Those are all the Toulouse and possible Toulouse x Seb crosses. They are so prolific. The girls lay usually lay from late December til June if I don't let them make a nest.
As soon as the breeder Sebastopols finish laying I will let them keep a bunch of eggs. Hopefully they'll set, and any goslings will be similar age.

I wonder what those cross would look like?

Today is day 30 for two Seb eggs that are in the hatcher..nada is happening. I had to open the hatcher up real quick this morning to top off the water, as it's been very hot the last couple of days and the water in the incubators has been evaporating quicker than normal.

Last week, I found that the vent on the incubator was at 1/3 opening instead of 1/2. Is that ok? Or did I mess up terribly? I forgot to adjust the vent after my turkeys were hatched previously. :/
