Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

So I finally got some pics of my latest hatch. Sold two the first day, but here are the ones that are left. You may recall that I bought two types of eggs - half were purebred Toulouse, and the other half are an Embden/Chinese mix. But they arrived unmarked, just a box of eggs. I have separated the goslings out (into two batches) by beak color and feather color and taken pics. I'm gonna assume that the darker ones are the Toulouse, but I really don't know. Also, I have a buyer for some of them lined up, but he wants to know sex. I have no clue. Can someone help? I've numbered the lighter goslings for aid in reference. :) But the darker ones look pretty much the same to me. Thanks in advance! Daisy The dark one in the bottom left corner decided to dip his/her head in the water when I was getting them together for the pic. Maybe I should call it "Rufio"?
That is adorable! and great picture! I know pure white geese can be sexed by color ( lighter are boys), but not sure about dark colored geese. Do you know how to vent sex them?

Oooh how cute! I have hatched Toulouse crosses, and as long as the father is a Toulouse (grey) they will all be dark like that at hatch.

I use those baskets to haul the babies outside to play until they are big enough to live out there. They certainly get heavy quick!

being a cross will screw up and visual gender IDing. The grey are likely your production toulouse (as they are most commonly found as greys with a few buffs). You would have to vent sex them. If you can not do that the buyer has to buy them as is, straight run

cute babies, love the baskets

Christine, congrats on the new babies! I look forward to seeing them grow out too! Got any more sebbie egg cooking in your bator?

Kuntry, that's great news! Congrats!!!

DM, adorable bucket of babies.

So I'm not a murderer after all. Three of the 6 eggs have hatched and 1 is zipping. I'm relieved that I didn't kill them.

Well, today's day 28 for my american buff pair. She's off the nest a little more often this week so I got a look this am. Six eggs but no sign of external pipping or sound of peeping that I could detect. I sure hope that these new parents know what they're doing and that eggs are fertile. The 3 week old sebbies are doing great one still larger and lighter than the other. Any chance that it means i have a pair? Pics are a week old but colors have not changed. Thanks for your input.

if they came from all white parents (no color hidden in the back ground) it is notbased on lightness or darkness but placement of color. As new goslings (for WHITE ONLY sebbies) cap and saddle, no matter how dark or light, are female. All over dusty color (again 100% white sebastopols only does this work) will be ganders.

Any color in the background throws this off, as splash can look like white males, but be female

You picture has those two goslings "looking" like white females
