Let's make the newbies feel better by.....

I started out 9 months ago with 4 chickens, and I still have 4 chickens. One even survived a run in with a bald eagle. I have chicks due to hatch day after tomorrow.

This thread was a great idea!!

I started about 6 months ago with 6 rescued chickens. 3 (roosters) were re-homed, and the other 3 hens are still here and doing great.

Then my order of 16 chicks finally came 3 weeks later with 5 packing peanuts (roosters) for warmth. All of those are thriving and doing great. I recently re-homed 2 of those roosters, and still need to re-home a few more.

Now I have 16 chicks in my brooder that range from 3weeks to 1week old, (feed store chicks) and they are all doing great. We've had a few hickups, but all is well and every one is thriving wonderfully.

As my DH told me last week when I was fussing over them, "You have the healthyest birds around for miles, so stop worrying!" So then I was actually starting to feel guilty that my chicks and hens were doing so well, and was wondering if/when they would get sick. While I feel bad for anyone that has lost a chicken, it's important for the newbies to know that there are also alot of success stories also.
