This thread rolled so fast I missed some of the edits... I guess I just need to pay closer attention. Which is the case more often than not... Bill
To answer Model A on how many I'll set...I will try and fill a hovabator and a small 12 egg holding brinsea, so 42-ish...
Are we allowed to candle and replace any clears? Awwww. I don't suppose I need to do that...but maybe just incase this one resturant takes me up on the meat offer...It could'nt hurt to replace any that candle clear and mark a date on em like I have been doing.
Everything seems to hatch ok at humdity 45 to 50 with a bump up for a couple of days while a first batch hatches out. The second implants seem to be unphased and hatch out reasonably.
Did not do that with the ones you sent F.Daddy. I wanted to see what would happen straight up with the heat and the genetics of that batch.
When it is mine mixed with say, some of JJ or Alex's I do the replace the duds thing and mark em to keep hatches going what with the small equipment I have.
Then I have tubs going for brooders side by side. I have found that a week difference in age seems to be OK mixing hatched out. The littles seem to be appreciative or imprint on the older chicks and do OK. I am talking Coturnix. Any bigger than a 7 day difference is too big it seems.
So short story long.... I'll fill both bators if I can. If I need to share some eggs, then I will do that and set what I have. Importance being on the hatch "along".

My birds may have just been too young when I sent you eggs lady.

I got behind on this thread too. Its so neat to put a face to the folks we read everyday.
I am Lisa. I am born and raised Floridian. I got into chickens about 10 years ago, started with 4, now have 40. Plus 16 guineas. Two partridges, Two red golden pheasants, 2 yellow golden pheasants. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats, 2 horses, 3 rabbits, fish, parakeet and a full time real paying job.
I got into quail early this year, hatched 74, I have 11 of them left. I hatched 102 5 weeks ago. And just hatched 77 more last weekend.
Talk about an addiction! I am collecting eggs once again for another hatch as well!
