They like to climb on top of the delaware chick.. crawl under him.. peck his toes.. and he sits there like he's a few crayons short of a box... I call him the "idiot child".. if i take him out he screams his head off.. so I checked the feedstore and they won't be getting any more chicks in til next week.. all their older chicks are feathered out and are too big for him.. he was the only chick to hatch out of a dozen shipped delaware eggs.. the post office had beat the snot out of the eggs.. most were scrambled .. all had large bubbly loose air cells.. so I was amazed that I had one hatch out of that mess at all.. since he doesn't attack the quail I figured he's happier being their toy for now.. at least til I can find him a friend his size and get him out of there this coming week

Lisa, where exactly is Malabar? how far from Gville? I was in Alachua Farm and Lumber today, they have a hunting section with at least 100 bows, made me think about my Quail peeps.
i had an araucana chick live with my jumbo browns for their first 2-3 weeks? when they made the move out of the barn, i cant remember what the chick did but i kicked him out, he was too small to go with the adolescent chicks so i left him run free, hes still attached to the quail, always round their cage.
just dawned on me that i've already turned off the big cabinet bator, and only putzing with the wee hova now (no turner).... how sensitive to turning are the eggs lol. i can still hand turn 3-5 times a day, just a matter of i cant flip each egg, kinda just roll/swirl em about... that will work alright wont it?
When I used a manuial one, I'd slide a 2 inch block under the side to tilt the whole thing, then swap which side every time I walked past to go to the bathroom. perhaps unscientific, but it works out ok.

Malabar is half way down the East coast, south of Melbourne. Quite a ways from Gville and Alachua. Sounds like a great store!
