Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

I put my 20 babies out on the baby pens yesterday, I was a little worried they would be too cold, but they were just fine!

no reds from me, i have rosettas, tiebetans, jumbo brown and golden jumbos.

sorry syble, I was confused with someone else maybe, thought someone on the forum said they had a larger "red" hen, maybe it was red, scarlett, red range/tibetan or maybe even rosetta, I just remember "R..." and it sounded exciting- but I cannot find the post now. was wondering if they were going to set a bunch of her eggs and how long they were going to collect them for.

hmm might have been me? I have a good sized rosetta hen that has been laying monster eggs for me, at least every other day is a double. i'll be setting any from her that are singles that i can collect in that time

Well they are only a couple weeks old, just getting their feathers, and while it has been hot during the day it dipped to 62 last night, that's why I was worried.

I have more eggs set now that should be hatching on August 14th or thereabouts, so yes I will be setting another batch on the first.

I'm right there with ya Lady, Ya cant help but wonder if there gonna be alright with the adjustment. The ones I moved out were 12 days and 7 days old. Its been high 90's to 100 + here for the last month and lows around 80. I was surprised to see them start panting thou. I got hang'n heat lamps set up on a thermostat so if it gets too cold the lights come on , but still dont cook'em... I always worry bout the bittys but cant stand'em in the inside brooders for long. Got to get go'n on the new brooder and they can stay longer!! Good luck. Bill

I'm in with Jumbo Browns should get 14 to 20 eggs ready and have the bator freed up. Two brown hens are both laying every day plus an extra now and again.

Just put bob bird, jumbo brown and mix (A&M / golden) eggs in the bator last night. Can bob birds reproduce? What does a golden aggie look like? Just a few of my questions.

Oh.. bob bird meat is dark like a coturnix. Coturnix eggs are good but for meat waiting on the extra Roos and the second generation of butlers.

I have never raised, been around or studied the bob bird. All I know is what I'v read here on the quail board. If the bob bird meat is dark like cotrunix, whats the advantage? The white meat is the only advantage of the bobs have over coturnix, IMHO. I mean aggressive, slow growing, lower egg production.... Have I missed the point somewhere? Thanks for any input you may offer. Bill

What type are the lighter striped coturnix chicks ? Sorry, I am trying to learn all about the varieties and chick colorations. Nice chicks.

they look like goldens, I also see A&M, normal brown, a dark (tibetian or rosetta?) and a chick not to thrilled to have that selaware sitting on him.
