Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

Only 26 eggs made it for my hatch today and I have an order for 25. Good thing I have more due the 23rd. I have a serious problem though. 12 hens laying and every one has laid an egg in the passed 4 day, plus some from a couple of days before. I have to set. I can't waste eggs. Looks like I'll be playing egg tetris big time for this hatch.

I really need to invest in a proper candler, i'm just poor lol. i've been using a flashlight for the chickens turkeys ect always worked fine not as well for quail

I'll probably look around day 5 and again at 10, and again 15 lol, I'm obsessive compulsive

i should also say that if these shipped eggs end up heavily damaged, i may be able to set some, its just a matter of waiting a bit lol. my luck i'd end up with 80+ quail and only have room to grow max of about 50 out. the 5 dozen eggs are supposed to be an assortment so i'll be wanting to grow out as many colors as i can. soo many things to build haha

I know i'm jumping in kinda late. But we should have room in the bator with 20 A&M eggs and 40 coturnix eggs arriving by late next week. It will be our first hatch so i'm

we don't make any rookie mistakes. Having everyone on byc though is great the support is awsome to someone like me who's just starting out.

Ok so, I am not building one but.... I am going to get either one for Christmas. I am having trouble choosing between the two I want. Either a Brinsea Octagon with auto turn or a Hovabator (the one I posted a couple pages back) also with a turner. So if i get the hova I can get it for my birthday witch is before christmas. Or i can get the Brinsea but I have to get it for Christmas. Arg so many bators....
