Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

Can someone tell me how long quail keep laying, like with chickens people usually replace them after 2 years or a little less? Oh, and I set another 7 quail eggs today that mine laid! Woot!

there is a great sticky at the top with a bunch of information

Ok so we have 13 little fuzzy butts and counting. This is going to be a long night of making sure they get to the brooder once they're dry. This is so much fun though.

*Update*
We now have 30 little coturnix babies running around in the brooder of all colors. Now we just wait on the 9 eggs left in the bator to see if any more want to come out and join the party. We did lose one after it pipped and when we broke it open it looked like it's intestines had grown in the wrong area. But so far we have a 75% hatch rate. I'll get pics posted as soon as i can.

Coturnix live approximately 3-5 years but a great deal of that depends on how you manage them. I have some that are over 2 years old but I lost quite a few of my 2-year-olds last winter due to our lovely weather

Some people claim to have birds 5+ years old but those people don't live in KY!
