Got another batch of 25 coturnix eggs in the mail today, so will pop them in the Bator tonight. I have not tried candling quail eggs yet, but it's about time I do so maybe I will get that done tonight. Been obsessing about getting everything done on the coop/pen for my new flock of Silver Sussex LF. They are so gorgeous ! Lots of projects on the to do list including a quail breeding pen.

i candled on the weekend as well, down to 31 from 34 or 35? So not bad, 2 clears and the others quit early. Should be lots of goldens, and a couple rosettas and pieds i hope... i don't have many of either so it would be nice to bump the other 2 groups up for spring... only 1 more hatch 5 days after this one and i'm done for the year! Do you think if i repeat that often enough it will sink in!?

Total buttons hatched from 35 eggs: 20

Not the greatest, but it could have been worse. I had a few tuxedos hatch and lost one of the 'new' ones overnight, but otherwise they seem to be doing well. 10 hatched on Friday and 10 hatched on Sunday. Friday was day 15 and Sunday was day 17...guess I forgot to tell them they were due at 16 days

I don't candle eggs, just waiting right now. The buttons should hatch soon. I have some shipped eggs in the bator as well so hoping for something out of the 100 eggs!

Anyone start building their cages yet? I need more lumber. Just finished a duplex chicken coop, one more run 8x8 to build for that. Then I plan a 3x8 breeder cage for the quail.

Yes, started another 2 story pen(like the one in the pic) on Saturday. I still need to finish the sides and the front. This is after building the breeder pen with egg roll-out...but I am thinking I will never get finished building pens
