Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

I didn't think any were going to hatch. I set 67? a few broke, 3 oozed and I still had a lot of eggs.

Nothing yesterday and today I walked over to look at what I was sure was unhatched eggs. I have had 8 for hours and no other pips.

I did have a few days were they were too warm during collection, so that may be the problem.

Still 67 and I get 8? Talk about your bad hatch.

I have four so far, hoping more will hatch since I set a bunch more the day after. Sorry your hatch didn't go well, Wolf.

37 total! 35 came out on their own.

2 helped. They piped about 1/3 of the way on the pointy side of the egg. They zipped 1/2 way diagonally and were stuck. I said that we shouldn't help them since they will be weaker, but my husband said, that that makes sense if we are going to be propagating them, but since these are destined to Camp Kenmore, then we could open them. I couldn't really argue with that. They came out a little bent and their feet took longer to straighten out than normal, but this morning (about 12 hours later) they were fine and I put them in "general population" this morning and off they went.

#38 didn't pip or hatch, it looked weird in the bater. I noticed that it had a crack on it this morning, but the crack was inward, so maybe it was cracked to begin with and I didn't notice or the mass of chicks knocked it.

180 coturnix, 75 cbbq, 6 African Harlequin

I set more :p

I also hatched out my next generation of golden tuxedos, I would like to share some findings as that came out VERY neat. I just need to write it down and sort out the codes.

I'm excited to see your results on the golden tuxes!

I got an assortment of colors and shades, stripes, reds, and English whites. I'm puzzling over the genetics.

i got eggs from two different people..luckily they coded the eggs.. so by looking at the shells I can see how many from each person hatched
seller one sent me 30 eggs.. 15 hatched = 50% hatch rate
seller two sent me 60 eggs.. 12 hatched = 20% hatch rate

on my own eggs i usually get between 90 & 100% hatch rates.. so I know shipped eggs are always a gamble... but so long as i got some that made it when they grow up they can make more!

So out of 14 A&M eggs only the one hatched.

This poor little thing is so alone and constantly peeps. Anyone have A&M hatching eggs they could sell? We still have 6 Jersey giant eggs and 10 bantam eggs in the bator going into lock down today hopefully this time turns out better.

You need to put a chick or a small stuffed animal in with it or it will run itself to death looking for company. Been there, sadly seen that:-(
