thanks for inviting me kuntrygirl

you want to see ugly coops Ive got one.
in fact I lost my shed (barn) to our chickens
and they refuse to use boxes, and just lay there eggs in the corner on some hay.

I guess that since I raised them in this building its there home now :^}

theres a little 12 by 18 inch hole cut in the side of the barn, they go right there and lay in that corner:^}

the building is 9 by 14, and is half full of little homemade tacky brooding pens

You're welcome. Thanks for coming on over to one big happy family on this thread.

I love your set up. I especially love the inside. I love the rusty tin. The rustic look is a

with me. Your set up looks very neat and clean and the chicks are soooooo cute.

They look so happy and that is what it's all about. I love the cut out doorway in the 2nd pic. I see you have the ever so popular chicken yard chair in the first pic.

Way to go Robert Boyd.

Thanks for sharing and thanks for reviving this thread. I hope to see more coops like this. Your coop is a mansion compared to my 1st coops. I'll have to find my old tacky coop pics.

yall keep poking fun at the chair:^}

I have a 6 year old son and tons of nephews, and that chair keeps them from getting into the coop.
they can open the door,(not close it) but they dont dare move the chair cause they arnt strong enough to push it back up against the door:^}

hahaha, seriously im a poor old country boy, raising 4 kids, so most of my stuff is put together from things Ive picked up over time, that barn floor is actually a flat bed off an old hay truck, the 2 by 4 were extras on a construction sight, and the sheetmetal is from a fallen down old barn. Ive got 30 dollars in that whole building, my Chicken run(pen) cost a little more, but I had a bunch of old cattle panels, from where I put up new fencing, and a bunch of T posts i gathered up on the farm, Ive got 28 dollars worth of lumber, and 120 dollars worth of wire in it.

so 9 by 14 coop and 5 by 9 lean to and a 16 by 20 pen cost a wopping 150.00.

Im either thrifty as can be, or im just a cheap old fart:^}

I love the chair as well. I have a few chicken yard chairs but they don't look as good as yours.

I love our idea of being thrifty. You're a smart and creative man. Keep up the good work.

Wow i just checked out your websight, yall are doing what I want to do.

yall keep up the good work:^}

Love your coop Robert, I'm just concerned with what looks like a body in the first photo lower right. Your chickens didn't commit humanicide did they? I've heard chickens will get you if you fall down. Just worryin'
