Thanks MJ. It was never an outhouse, just made to look that way. I have a fliptop bench inside with the nextboxes built underneath. I'm trying to figure out how to add a toilet seat to it. Normal sized ones are too big! lol Maybe I could cut some out using my scrollsaw.

Just a thought, they have the $10.00 potty seats for toddlers at WalMart. Cut off the handles on the side and it might work really well - it would just be cushy!!!

it would be cool if a hen sit on the toilet seat to lay an egg in it too

I was in Lowes the other day looking for a new toilet seat and they now make some that are quite small for the little folks that may live in your house. Maybe one of those would work. I'm not certain but I think the price range on it was $15/$20. I absolutely love the "outhouse" look and the door with the moon. FANTASTIC!

Well I just posted mine on another thread. Definitely qualifies in my opinion, but I think it's pretty functional, and the chickens sure like it more than the tiny cramped one I had built for me for twice the cost (less than one third the room!). I bought only the hardware cloth and some fittings, everything else came from craigslist free or other projects myself and friends had done.
While building it I really really wished for wood that wasn't so bent and warped, but you can't beat the price!

My coop is made out of used wood pallets and a old camper top and a dog keenel for the run. It is not that nice loooking but it was all FREE. I will post photos soon.

Ok here is our mostly recycled, salvaged, free items coop. I know you weren't looking for painted ones but we painted it with free paint from the recycling center and so the wood would last longer in the rain. The frame is made of free wood pallats we picked up from local businesses. We did buy some nails, screws, staples... some hinges (which we found on sale

at Ace) the shutters are made from salvaged plywood that is a little warped (I think it is plywood the wood that is pressed together from smaller pieces)
We also did have to buy a piece of corrigated plastic so the rain didn't pool on the top, we bought some bigger pieces of plywood for the outer walls. The cement blocks underneath we got from a friend who was going to throw them away.
We bought chicken wire for the run, most of the wood was free from a friend (other than the sides) and we got some cement from my Dad. And we had a tarp there that we put up for shade in the run for now till we figure something else out

So we did spend some money but scrapped for all that we could and waaah laaah!

This is my duck house for locking up at night - preditor protection.

Sits in a 12' x 24' pen that's covered in domed white tarp on half and bird netting over arched pvc on the other half that's not preditor proof.

Everything I had except for the cedar 1 x 2's, hinges, and lock for $40.00 from Lowes.

Ducks seem to like it. They go in on their own when it gets dark. I just need to close the door and lock them in - let them out in the AM
