Well the chickens don't quite feel the same about my little girl. I also have a step-daughter who is 11 months younger than my little one and my saying is, when the chickens see us they see us as big people, the babies are monsters..lol..they just never know when to let go

I keep my meaties seperated in the coop from the RIR's buy using some plywood thats 4' tall. I do this so they RIR's don't pick on them.

Today I thought I'd let them freerange with the RIR's so I could take some majestic pictures. Well.... they were not so up for free ranging. The farthese they got was the stoop

Anyway here they are at 4 weeks.

First a picture of the RIR's gone wild, they free range everyday from 6pm (get home from work) till dark so its their "happy time"

Here are the meaties,.. they are lots of fun to watch, as they act so differently than the RIR's

I was thinking the same thing. I use a 5gal bucket too but I fill it and flip it over onto a large pot saucer... it's really hard to flip I so need to figure a better setup. It would be really cool if you posted more about that here.

Luckily my girl is pretty tiny and she can't pick those monsters up unless I help her, so they are in luck. She just hand feeds them and pets their backs like they are dogs and says "Nice" (one of the few words she can say), lol. She's been hand feeding them little treats since they were little chicks though, so I think they are pretty used to her.

It hurts my heart that they are so friendly. Mine are 11 weeks old and I still haven't had the guts to "do them in" yet.

don't feel bad our are eleven weeks today and we still haven't done them yet either. this will be out first go at, well u know, and my DH keeps going "maybe next weekend"
