Let's Show Off Our Meaties....

We started with 35 cornish and ended with 34. Not bad!! The one we lost did not act right from the start. So far we have butchered 15. 10 more today. I have enjoyed raising them, but I am ready for them to be done. They are a bit stinky. We are cooling the birds in the refridgerator for 2 days before freezing. It might be a while before I can eat one though.

I am a thread killer, so sorry everyone!

We have 110 Cornish that we bought 4 weeks ago and they are approx 1.5 # each.
they are twice the size of the BR that we bought the same day and are literally going through 50# of feed every three days.

I have tried posting photos of them but can't seem to figure out how to do that... any suggestions.

Look at these two Cornish X sparring off....or should I say staring each other down....

That was the first time seeing that...At 14 wks...I guess thats to be expected...Never touched each other...Just Danced...

Homesteading_Bound - I asked this question on a different post but CX were younger,.. do yours crow? Do you know if any CX crow?

Also are they viable roosters, will they reporduce with a RIR?

Reason why I ask is I'd love to keep a roo around as long as he was stealthy, (NO CROWING)

Cool photos!

Well...My first one did started to crow...I have not personally seen this group crow... Yet!!!

As you can see with the photo...they are exhibiting sighs of developing into a Roo...I'm sure they will start because they will be 14 wk. soon.

You asked.."Can they reproduce?" That's a subject I am not versed at...Sorry

They do have a lot of space.
We converted two horse stalls and built new doors and locks, and they are separated from our RIR and Silkies whom free range all day from the time they wake me up at sunset until I close them in before I go to bed.

I do have one that has fallen over because he can no longer hold himself up. I think I will have to put him down this weekend as he is still only 2lbs.

They are about 5 weeks old this week and about 2 lbs each. they are not crowing, and I have kept them separated from the RIR. I also have 25 BR the same age as my CX that I keep with them, they tend to get out and socialize with my RIR and Silkies
I have 8 roo's that crow all day long tho, it keeps us entertained.

Thanks for the compliment,
Don
