Lets talk about goats!

Pics
Has this doe ever kidded? Does she look buckish? Does she have a normal vulva or is it enlarged? She might be a hermaphrodite.

What are you giving them for their mineral needs? What brand? What form (block or loose)? Is it free choice? Is a sheep mineral or one just for goats?

Awesome! What breed(s) are they? I want to get Pygmy goats. :) Goats are soooooo awesome!

P.S I really like Nubians, Nigerian Dwarfs, and Kinders too!

If you do get Pygmies or Kinders. I am selling all my Pygmies and Kinders because they are teaching my big goats how to get out. Good luck!!!

Nigerian question. At what age do you band a buck to make him a wither.

Also i thought it was 12 weeks when you seperate them from their mom. Someone on here said they sold kids at 5 weeks. Is that the right time to wean them from their mom or is 7 weeks better

I think it all depends on the actual goat some will wean easier than others. I heard the typical age to have a kid weaned from its mom was around 10 give or take. When I got my 2 NDs they were 8weeks and 10weeks old. The 8 week old wasn't fully weaned but she did just fine when I brought her home. When I wean I plan to have them fully weaned between 10-12weeks. Also some people may sell their kids sooner and the people buying them most likely will bottle feed until weaned from bottle.

Im not sure on banding as I haven't done that yet but I think its preference. I read in my book that you can do it as early as a few days of age but some breeders choose to do it between 8-12weeks of age to allow the urethra time to develop that may help prevent urinary calculi problems later. This is just what I have in my goat raising book.
