Lets talk about goats!

I have a question. My goats get goat blocks for their minerals. My great pyrenees (5 months old) wont leave them alone. Its like crack to them. Should i worry about them eating it. I havent left them alone with it to see if they would eat it all or stop when they have had enough. Right now i just have to take the blocks away and return them to the goats when i let the dogs run and play in the outer fenced area that surrounds the goat pen.

Im not sure of this. My dogs don't have access to the goat pen. Im sure someone might have some info for you. You could also check out the website backyardherds.com lots of great info over there. It is one of BYCs sister sites. You could also try changing out the block for loose powder minerals. They sell them at TSC. Maybe the dogs would leave the powder alone.

Also has anyone had mountain lion , bobcat , or coyotes get their goats . A friend further north said for 22 years shes never had anything get her sheep or goats. What comes to hunt just passes them and goes straight for the chickens. If my pups are 5 months old can i leave the goats to roam there pen at night with the pups never shutting them up in their house at night. I have a large area fenced off with the goats having a house and their own fenced area inside the main fence. I also have 5 coops and runs inside the main fence and some preditor red eyes for night protection. As you can see the outer fence is pretty close to the sides of the goat pen and on one side by the chickens pen. Only one time in two years and over a year ago i had a cat jump in and pull a chicken under the fence. Im pretty sure it was a cat. There was no dig unders any of the fence plus it ate it right there leaving the wings and one leg. Which i consider classic cat behavior. I once slept on the goat pen after I lost a bunch of chickens(35) to coyotes when things were in a different location on the same land. I fell asleep durring my ambush and needless to say the coyotes came and left with my pizza bait gone the next morning. While i laid there when i woke the next morning enjoying the mountains before i got up i seen a large mountain lion passing threw the land.

I thought about that but figured the powder would be easier to scarf down. Backyard hurds only had 8 members online and 45 guest but I can try there too. The pyrenees live in the pen and goat house with them at all times unless im working then they can run the outer area

I have heard predators are a real threat to small livestock like goats but so far I haven't had a problem with predators and the goats. The only real predator threats for the goats I have here in my town are loose dogs and I never see any(responsible dog owners Im guessing) and coyotes and I have never seen one though neighbors say they have seen them. I do not have livestock dogs just plain jane house dogs lol. I do not have a door to the goat house yet(I had planed on one just havent got to it and now winter is here, I know not an excuse). So far so good though. I only had a problem one time during the summer where something got 4 of my rooster in 2 nights but it only took their heads

Adorable! I love seeing them with the chickens. I plan to add chickens to my goat pen also to help with ticks in their area. Your goats have great colors. How many does/bucks?

I don't have bucks. I plan to take them on a "date" to a breeder once they are of age.
