Lets talk about goats!

Belly almost on the ground...

My biggest question is when I need to expect babies... Its cold, and I don't want to miss it. Since I have this 3 week window, its hard to be prepared. She is a ff, and this is my first time having goat babies.
I'm not clear in checking for ligaments. I know they are by the tail, and I've watched a video on it but without feeling myself, I'm not confident I know what I'm feeling. She has a little but of an udder. Its the size of two tennis balls above each teat. She is a big heavy goat to begin with, so sides sinking in is also hard to see. She looks "dropped" with her belly only about an inch off the ground...
I'm a nervous wreck.

The size of her belly is not something you can go off of. Use the link provided and check her ligaments. Compare with another goat who hasn't been bred to feel the difference.

Hopefully she is a good Mom and cleans them quickly if she drops them when you are not there. That is why I am a huge advocate of giving does in heat a single day with the buck. I know when they were bred and can plan accordingly.

Looking at the pics, she isn't "dropped" she's just very pregnant and short, lol. When she "drops" you will know it. The body takes on a different shape. There will be a hollowed out area below the hip bones, in front of the thigh in the flank area. As for the ligaments, when a doe has her ligaments, they will feel like a pencil almost running along either side of the tail. As she progresses to lose them they will feel kind of like a rubber band.. there but lose and stretchy, then when they are gone, it will feel like you can almost wrap your thumb and forefinger around her tail head. The fiasco farm link is great. It has some pictures. Just start feeling around on your doe and any other does you have on the place. You'll figure it out. Once you feel them, the light bulb will click on. :)

Lol That is my Luna she has a white moom on her head, the other girl in the pics below is Gem. The pine tree is an old Christmas tree I just threw in their pen.

Then they decided to follow me out for a few mins, the snow was up to their back the poor things
