Lets talk about goats!

My goats regularly raid the chook feeders, the only danger they are in is if I catch them. ;)

Oh my what a beautiful picture of your goat! What breed do you have?
I'm new to (considering getting) goats. I want a breed for wool (is it called wool if it comes from a goat instead of a sheep?) and dairy. I first came across Pygoras and then heard about nigoras... I'm thinking they may be just what I'm looking for, but in my area there are none that I know of.
At any rate...yours is just stunning... perfect goat face with all those ringlets!

Hey everyone! It's been awhile but all three boys are doing great. Well Stetson has a cl lump on his neck but we're ready to deal with it thanks to @cassie. Moved them down to the barn today! They are definitely happy with it. Puts them a little further away but more room and should be a lot dryer. We've had some crazy rain and everything has been wet! Still love their morning walks, and afternoon ones and after super ones and.... well lots of walks lol.

@yoopergirl1211 what awesome pics!
So glad to hear your goats are doing well!
I read this entire thread and know what you went through when you first got your 2, so really happy to see the 3 you have are healthy and to hear you're able to enjoy them.
We have a nature trail near us and I was thinking I could take our goats (when we get them) for walks on it to get some browsing in and to vary their surroundings. It's good to see that other's can walk their goats so I know it can work.
Beautiful pics, thank you for sharing!

Thanks! They love it. Theres a stream and a small ravine they have to jump across that the love. And a fallen tree the two little ones race too and play king of the stump lol. If I don't have time to take them I swear they get mad and cause mischief!

We love our 2 dozen goats! A lot more responsibility than poultry. We breed annually our Nigerian Nannies.
We have to maintain their feet, proper nutrition, diagnosis of sickness, seasonal threats, secure fences and gates.
Well worth the time spent caring for our herd.
Gross misconceptions of just buying one and put them in the yard for a lawnmower.
We love every minute!

I haven't had time to see all these cute goat pics in awhile!!! Love it

Our new little guy, Guapo, seems to be a little under the weather. Kinda slow, not gaining weight like he should. I'm worming him again today and have been trying to find a B injection for him but have looked at four stores and come up empty handed :barnie

Pull down his eye lid and check the color. It should be pink. It white he is anemic. His poo should be berries not clumps as well. Check for bloating as well.

He had scours when I got him, and I fixed that the first couple days he was here. I just checked his eyelids and they are white- how do I go about fixing the anemia? No bloating.

According to the person I got him from he was born the day before my nigi girl kidded her female twins- yet he is quite a bit smaller than them, even though he is a larger breed (nigi/boer). She said he was a bottle baby, but I don't think she fed him enough or as often as she should've. She seemed to have the kind of "leave them to their own devices" mentality.

Any idea what his weight is? If you have any goat drench start with that. Red cell, for horses, depending on how small he is, if he's a tiny guy is do 1/2cc by mouth 2x a day for 3days.
If you can post a pic of him that would to reference size.
