Lets talk about goats!

We live on 3/4s of an acre with the backyard being up a bluff so husband can't mow. He wants to get a goat next year. What should we know? What kind of fencing holds goats? Are predators an issue? Would having just 1 goat be a problem? I think we are only allowed 1 animal besides chickens on our city farm permit...

Pick up a copy of Story's Guide to Raising Goats. It's a good read of the basics. And goats are herd animals so it's best to have at least two.
If all you're wanting them for is brush control consider whethers ( neutered male) they don't require as much feed outside of brush and no Bucky smell or babies. Hope this helps. It's just a starting point, others will chime in with more advice that will help you make the best decision for your situation.:)
 
For grazing, sheep are better, or geese. Goats are more brush.

I has been 20 years since I had a little pygmy goat and it was a runt that nobody wanted. I have been tossing the idea of getting a goat but want the smallest breed out there, Any ideas?
And would one goat be ok to keep with me chickens and ducks? I spend more then half me day out with my birds doing cleaning, petting, holding and gardening in there vegetable garden so it would get lots of attention, plus play time with my big dogs.
Any advice?

No, you really need 2 goats. And you shouldn't let them eat the chicken feed.
