But you might not be able to tell the difference for at least a week. The yellow in the yolk can make new chicks legs yellowish even if they end up white.

Thats the thing. At hatch some have a little darkish color on the front of the legs and some do not. What does that mean?

I find the darker legs at hatch belong to pullets look at the head spot it should be small and the chicks should look darker colored too.....

Yes, pullets often have some "dirtiness" on their shanks, they only have one dose of barring to clear up their shanks. They won't be perfectly white - pinkish is normal.

Have any of you ever heard of Blue Cuckoo Marans? I got some eggs from a lady, and she said that was what one of them is. I had never heard of those, so I'm just curious.

Yes and if you go back a few pages someone was nice enough to put up a link to a Marans web site that has a lot of information

What a Great Rooster, how old is he, We all start out with some faults, and correct them as we go to the next generation

Thanks he is about a year old I am going to put him over some hens that are a little dark and hopefully with him being so light they will balance. I have one other roo that I "liked" alot but he has shown his behind and gotten full of himself so he is headed to the pot I just will not continue to breed an aggressive roo I like my boys sweet!

So far I have eight whites out from my white hens and Silver cucu roo.

One has a couple black sopts one has blue spots but not enough to be considered splash. I suppose these are the dominant whites. I will post some pictures when they dry.

I had a great hatch this week of the 108 eggs that were set I already have 91 chicks out!! My best hatch this year. There are a few that are still piping I am pulling for them to make it out!! There are Black Coppers,Blue Coppers,Cucu,Silver Cucu,Blue Cucu,Gloden Cucu,Wheatens,Blue Wheatens, whites, blacks, and blues. AND 6 Silkies and 4 Serama. Now comes the big decision of who to keep!!

Now if the chicken gods will bless me with another good hatch from my eggs shipped from PA. Ohhhh the stress of shipped eggs.....
