Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

Days later, I'm only up to page 54.

Maybe its the power of suggestion, but I think I have a white marans chick from last weeks hatch. There were also some salmon faverolles in there, so I didn't think anything was odd at hatch time to pull out a yellow chick. Today, it looked much whiter, so I picked it up for a better look. It's definitely a marans and not a faverolle. If I can remember to take my camera to the hatch room, I can take a picture. I'm notoriously bad at remembering to take pictures.

How are you sure? I ask because I just hatched some Favs and they didn't all have 5 toes.... one had 5 toes on one foot and 4 on the other.... odd looking.

No beards, different body shape. I've been careful to only hatch from favs with good toes for a couple years now. I know there are no guarantees, but I hope I have the toes under control.

New here and trying to figure out how to use this forum.

Can anyone here tell me the genotype on a golden cuckoo marans... mine are the light type, so I am getting that he most likely homozygous for the barring gene. I am also trying to understand what makes them autosexing... its not just the barring...something else is going on too and I sure would like to understand.
