Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

Hi folks,
I hatched out five Marans chicks under a broody. Two are Cuckcoo, one is Black, one I'm not sure yet - maybe Blue, and one is all yellow. Thing is, I didn't think the breeder I bought the eggs from had any Whites. I know it may be a bit early to tell, but does this look like a White Marans chick to you guys - or something else entirely?

Hi

The down color looks as if the chick will be white but she has a very yellow comb and beak with no fluff on the legs. It will be interesting to see what egg color she lays when she is older.

I just called Dick Dickerson up yesterday to find out about the chicks I ordered. It turns out that he has had some bad hatches and is filling his last order right now, but I am next on the list. I should get some in about 3 weeks. Let me tell you, that man can talk!

These are hatchery birds so I don't plan on breeding them, but here are my 2 cuckoo Marans. 1 cockerel and 1 hen they are both about 13-14 weeks old

Check out the crazy amount of leg feathering on one of my Cuckoo Marans chicks:

The white one I posted previously just keeps getting taller and taller, and now has a slight bit of grey coming in.....

I am looking for some quality Cuckoos. Dark eggs, feather legs... you know the rest....

I have one hen indirectly from Ron Presley's line, and I'm trying to help a friend put back together a flock of them.

I could use 1 rooster, or several adults, or chicks, or eggs...

I could also use a SOLID black, feather legged Black Marans.

Kindly message me if you have any leads!
Thanks
Bailey

Without having read all the posts here I would like to share my experience and its results. I have NO idea about genetics or inheiritable traits and so forth, but...

I had a regular old hatchery stock cuckoo marans hen and had a hatchery stock buff golden laced polish roo. They made 6 white babies who had a few small black spots as adults. I dont know if it was just a fluke or could be repeated since I no longer have either type of bird. The one I have left is a hen, and she has a small polish crest, but not too big. Her comb is awful though, starts out as a single row comb at her beak, and then goes on to split into 2 single combs from the middle up (but they are still connected at the base, like a V, if that makes sense). Her polish crest still comes through on some of her babies, no matter who she is bred to. No leg feathering on her, or on her babies, unless she is bred to a feathered roo.

This probably isnt any help, but I figured with her parentage, she was technically a white maran- I mean a white, half maran. But she does have a few black spots, and there were 6 of them that looked exactly the same (they were all hens too!), so maybe buff laced golden anything could help produce a white Marans?

BTW, I may have the color name wrong on the roo- he had off-white, tannish feathers, but they were edged in orange/gold. His polish crest was mostly orange/gold. I might be able to post pics of the dad and the hen I have now (the offsrping) if anyone would like me too.
