Light #2 with my two keeper blue gcm pullets. Foreground one is nice and matches the light#1 pictured above. The other pullet to the front of him matches him pretty well.

I like this guy better . nice body type and free from any parasitic white or light fluff .

2 things I don t like about him
his back is not flat ,has a bump
this plumage is a little lose

if I had them I ll keep him and his smaller brother . best body shape and plumage type of all the 4 .
like that I ll end up keeping the big type gene free from a parasitic white and great plumage type too from the smaller cockerel

personal opinion .
I don t see any thing good come out of the Blue cockerel .too many fault . they can not much up to the black one .

the pullet on the front has a better body type .rectangular , love her long flat back and every thing about her .stunning specimen .
the pullet on the back has a better cuckoo marking .but leggy body type love her tail shape and angle

Bravo
love your work and dedication to this variety .
my hat to you my friend

My roosters are really big with this line. Here is him with 2 orpington (chocolate cuckoo and jubilee) young roosters of the same age:

he is solid . does he always hold his tail high or just alert position /

you need to introduce a Black copper hen well marked and with a dark under fluff to help you keep the blue color balanced and not too light .

This is a younger picture of the blue gcm that I removed. He had the white fluff, white tail feathers, as well as really light hackling. He was also really rough on the girls.

The brick (cull) one that you liked, that wasnt a good picture of him. He does have a compact shape, but has white primary wing feathers. He is also a good deal smaller than his 3 other sibling cockerals. Like 25% smaller. I've had one other like that. He ended up being a small adult. Like hen size, but not quite a bamtam.

I was quite excited to get a nice blue gcm pullet with great hackle coloration.

All of these are a restart of the line that I was working on. They are all F1s. Would I work a bcm in this early or try to stabilize the line before doing that? BCM rooster, I'm assuming.

you know my friend it is hard to comment on photos they are not always right .

if they are F1 from your BLCM hen with a dark egg and your DB GCM roo ,than I suggest you wait tell you see the egg color of the pullets . if you like them than keep the line pure for more years tell you stabilize the egg color .when it is done add a BCM gene to it to work on the body color without loosing the dark egg color

It's hard to keep track of what everyone else is using.

I restarted the line using my original rooster:

Crossed him with this Blue Copper hen:

These are her eggs at the end of her cycle before molt here:

Compared to a buff orpington egg (bottom center) and the GCM egg thr line was laying (bottom right).

Hopefully that clarifies it some.

All of the juveniles pictured in previous posts are from that pairing and eggs.

I'm guessing I should do a few generations and then cross in a black copper.

100% with this one .do few generation to capture all the good traits before you cross them to any BCM .

love this pullet . actually my favorite type and body marking . she ll produce a well colored cockerel with a nice shoulder marking ( she is true birchen type ).

Here is another of the pullets pictured in the same photo. Just a little more mature. No gold though. Caught her mid stretch in first picture.
