Letting a hen brood in the coop, need advice

I don’t t have turners at the moment- not looking forward to hand turning that many egd 3 times a day for over 3 weeks, ugh. With her being a first time mom I’m concerned she will be fickle

I would say go ahead and block her off and then hopefully by the time the chicken eggs hatch you will have the turners for the incubator (if needed). What are you planning to do with the chicks when they hatch? Are you planning to take them away from the broody hen so that she will hopefully continue to sit on her own eggs? Or are you going to leave the chicks with her and place her eggs in the incubator?

Bottom line is, do whatever you feel the most comfortable with. Good luck! Let us know how it all turns out!

Yesterday I was able to grab the chicken eggs and she jumped back on after. So far so good. I didn’t dig in the pile so if there are any chicken eggs that hatch early I’ll try and grab those and put them in the broader. If she wants to raise them I’ll give them back but most likely taking and revoking most of the guinea babies once they hatch also, so I guess this will be an expierement - see how it all works out lol
