LF Lavender Rumpless Araucana (COLLONCA) Grow outs

Charlie,

Thank you. Hazel sounds about right on eye color - I should have more correctly said light olive on her eye color. I like the deeper more even tone on your Lavenders.

Obviously, just because she carries lavender genetics (if she does) that is just the starting point with working toward good color. I have read that some of the long tern OEG breeders who work with Lavender for years have even got past the poor feather quality that is usually associated with self-blue. I will stay in touch when, and if, I start hatching some chicks out of her. She is large fowl.

Ann please do keep us updated on your results, surely wouldn't hurt to have another line or two of lavender araucana out there.

The ones we are working with have at least 4 different backgrounds going for them.

Our tufted/tailed pure lavender side just started laying, however we are out of space until spring to hatch more chicks.
Gonna have to wait until then to further along with them, but by that time the rumpless/clean side should be laying as well & then its just a matter of selecting our breeders to cross..

On the feather issue, it depends on the type of plumage the effect the lavender gene plays on the feather quality, hard feather and soft types will make the difference in the quality of the feather at the beginning of a project..

I have my toes and fingers crossed for you in hopes it is lavender..

Hi everybody!

*BUMP*

I just wanted to tell that I now got 2 black rumpless araucanas that are carrying genes for lavender!

They are about 5 months old now! Next step is to cross these two together to get some rumpless lavender araucanas. It will be the first lavender rumpless araucanas in Sweden, i think. Has been looking like crazy, but no luck. I love the lavender color, so I decided to take the first step to create a new color for the breed here. I crossed my british araucanas with my partridge rumpless hens and got those black rumpless araucanas with the gene.

Next year I'll cross my lav. rumpless with black or white rumpless araucanas with tufts for the "tuftsgene" and better "bodytype". Then I'll cross this (black), rumpless with tufts and lav. gene to get lav. rumpless araucanas with tufts!

Here's my black rooster with the gene!

... The crest is from his father (british araucana). Hopefully, it should not be too difficult to... "breed away" (haha, excuse my bad english ;D).
