Not sure what happened but last night I was able to catch the ducklings and lock them up for the night with heat, food, and water. I went out a few minutes ago and 2 were dead. Both were still laying underneath the heating plate.
The other 2 were chirping normally underneath it
Oh no, I am so sorry! :hugs Did they somehow get stuck under the plate?

Sorry to hear it. :( I had the same thing happen sorta. I mean, I also lost two ducklings overnight. Just found them dead. No idea what happened.

Late night anxieties hit again! By the way this post will be a mess, I'm warning yall in advance. First off, eggs on lockdown are set on the hatching tray on their sides, right? This occurred to me yesterday, since we already know Cruella is rather confident in her craft, and is actively removing bad eggs from the nest, is it logical it assume that she will also help the chicks out of the eggs, to an extent? I know this is something only a select few broodies do. And then I saved the best for last!!! I checked the Electric Lady eggs for the last time of the day, and they needed some more humidity, so I put some more water in. I swear I could hear tiny chirps! Maybe I'm paranoid🤣

Do we need to send you to birthing classes?..…breathe, pant, push.... :lau

Peeping at lockdown is fabulous news!!!! They are alive and hear you out there! Peeping usually is followed by hatching soon too. Make SURE your humidity stays up around 65 percent,70 max, the membrane inside the egg and the egg shell itself needs be be soft enough to break through. Not over 70 though, you don't want to drown them. Once you get it all set tonight or tomorrow, don't open the lid at all. Only after all eggs have hatched and chicks are dry, you don't want any pipped chicks to get stuck inside the eggs and die.

So talk to the eggies, tell them to get those egg teeth ready and start breaking out!
