Five live hatches, one died while zipping. Of the remaining eggs, I tossed four of them, and have one in the incubator since it looks like there's an internal pip, but no movement. It was a cold egg though, so perhaps a bit of warmth will help.

Moved Dainty to he own coop, with the bebes. So tiny!
So cute! Love the chocolates

So @Canadian Wind , a muscovy with 1 chocolate and 1 lavender (lilac? I forget which is the right name) gene will show what?
Depends on gender. Chocolate is sex-linked. A female will show, a male will carry.
Lavender is a recessive, so you'd need two genes for it to show in both males and females.
Lilac is a combination of Chocolate and Blue (which is co-dominant).

Blue affects the black gene the same in Muscovy, Domestics, and chickens. No gene you have black, one you have Blue, and two you have silver (or splash in chickens).

So, that being said, you have a plethora of results if it's Lilac.

If it's Lavender, you'll get Black males split to Chocolate and a possibility of being split to Lavender, and females that are Chocolate with a possibility of being split Lavender.

Does this answer your question? :) Or raise more? :lau

The last batch of hubby's blowtorch level salsa is out of the canner. The air still has hints of habanero to it. Tomorrow I think I'll make wimpy green salsa for me.

Then maybe applesauce...? We have a lot of wild apples here. They are a lot of work, though, as we don't spray. They need to be cut up into small bits so you don't get any icky things in there.:)
