Yes, roosters are a fact of life with broodies or incubator hatching eggs.I think I'm too much of a control freak to ever let a broody do broody things and hatch eggs (even though I'd really like to witness it and see one of my gals be a momma - I only have 1 that even attempts to be broody). Also, I want zero roosters...like ever....so....![]()
Yeah, nope, cant do it. I'm even afraid of getting an accidental rooster from the hatchery. I'm planning on adding 4 Bantams (9 total chicks) this coming spring - Meyer says they sex their bantams, but I'm feeling very scared about it (2 of the 4 bantams are sex link EE so the odds there are a little better)... It's at least 6 mos away and I'm already stressing about what I'll do if I end up with a rooster!Yes, roosters are a fact of life with broodies or incubator hatching eggs.I had to give up it all up.... "what am I going to do with all these roosters!"
Start meeting 4H families. If they have kids that show poultry, ask if they would be interested in a free (breed) bantam rooster if you end up with an oopsie. Explain that you're ordering chicks and want to make sure accidental boys you get go to good homes amd are looking ahead of ordering.Yeah, nope, cant do it. Hope it's not mites! I had to deal with that in some birds I'd purchased at a livestock sale.My cochin boy is worrying me. There's something up with his feet, despite him acting just fine. I need to try and catch him to look tomorrow after work.
