LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Hope it's not mites! I had to deal with that in some birds I'd purchased at a livestock sale.
I don't think the scales themselves are raised. His whole feet just look bad. He had slight foot issues his first winter that I managed to get back to normal, in hoping they aren't starting up again.

Start meeting 4H families. If they have kids that show poultry, ask if they would be interested in a free (breed) bantam rooster if you end up with an oopsie. Explain that you're ordering chicks and want to make sure accidental boys you get go to good homes amd are looking ahead of ordering.

This is s great idea! Thank you, Jacin! 💡
This is what I've always done with my extra boys. The vet tech at my vets office has kids, her son is very active in 4-H and always enjoyed taking my extras for shows and trading with other 4-H members. This way you at least are pretty sure they are going to a good home.

I don’t know if I will be rehoming the sheep or keeping them🙁. We have had the youngest one pass away a few weeks ago from flystrike and now another one has flystrike. we have trimmed the area and sprayed it :fl hopefully she will be okay now

we are going to trim the back legs of the other 2 sheep. I thought it would be a lot harder for them to get flystrike :hit I don’t want to deal with this ever again or have the stress of it potentially happening again
Fly strike is absolutely horrid. :hugs

Possible Gout? Roosters are prone to it. Makes the toes all gnarly and disjointed looking. The bird limps.

That's what I'm thinking. He doesn't limp though from what I've watched. He acts like his feet are perfect, but I've caught glimpses of them. He almost had to be culled his first winter when they got swollen, and his son did end up having to be culled. I've had foot issues each winter for like 3 years now. I'm not sure what's changed honestly, my mom's leading thought is there's something in our soil that's started leaching up with all the moisture during the winter

I'll try to get some pictures if I can wrangle him today. Thankfully he's not ageessive

Early on they don't limp. Do the toes and feet get red and warm? Definitely post some pics. I had a rooster with gout, eventually he couldn't walk at all, could only crawl on his hocks. :( I had him put down.
