LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

I think I have the plant hard scale under control now, thankfully. Of course its never as bad as one thinks, its easy to panic and blow things out of proportion.

I went over EVERY plant with a magnifying glass, rubbing alcohol and a scraper. I have quite a few cacti and succulents so its taken hours/days of combing over them. I was able to scrape pretty much all of it off all the cactus even some of the succulents. Some of the succulents I had to prune because I couldn't scrape. I am still checking daily but those in the house appear to be scale free, at least adult scale. I lost about 4 plants and 3 are in the "infirmery" in isolation because they still have scale I just can't get to. I am using hard core insecticides on them, these 3 got hit hard.

I look back now and remember the first time I saw this scale was on the string of pearls, so it must have come from Succulents Depot, my first order of plants. :hmm

I think with diligence and checking all summer long, I can eradicate these nasty bugs.

Of course I have ordered more plants from a reputable nursery just today. 🤣

Glad you got it under control. Scale is SCARY! You're a very good succulent parent :hugs

The last part of your post is what being a succulent parent is all about🤣

mealybugs. Brought in from an echeveria von nurnberg. I'm still checking frequently, worrying if they'll be back.

You'll get through this, and gain SO much experience from it :hugs !

Mealies are awful! :hugs Sorry you had to go through that. Years ago I had an outbreak of mealies, lost a plant because of it, now I know what to look for.

And yes, this is definitely one big learning experience, plants make things look so easy and of course an untrained eye lets all sorts of disasterous things happen. We learn as we go, I definitely know more now than I did a few months ago!
