LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

I have 2 Peanut Cactuses, one has tiny red buds which I THINK are starting to expand. One of them BETTER bloom or else!! 😁 Here they are side by side, fast growers, they were 1/4 inch tall last summer! (Look closely on the left Peanut second branch from the right, there's a tiny red bud there!)

Hoping it is indeed a bloom! So exciting!

If they don’t bloom this year threaten them with my winter watering method:lol:

Gosh they are so adorable. Maybe I DO need more succulents

Your watering schedule seems to have worded really well, all the succulents in the photos looked amazing!

I did no watering whatsoever. Some didn’t appreciate it much  ! Less losses than last year, so I’m happy. Lost no lithops during the winter

The astrophytum really are worth it! I like them a bit more than the gymnocalycium (care-wise) I’ve found, great cacti for sure. If you ever have (or make) room, get one!
I am going to TRY and water less if not at all next winter. My Peanut Cactus, my Monkey Tail and Rat tail all got really pliable and less stiff after a while so my heart couldn't take it when I swore I heard them saying, "mommy I need a drink of water!" 🤣 I am sure my big ol Barrel Cacti could have gone all winter without water along with the Columns. But no body went rotten and that is what matters most! 😁

I remember you showing a photo of one of your Astros, it was a Sand Dollar I think? It was gorgeous! I want one SO badly!! 😁 I love the look of these types of cacti.

Are your Lithops all done splitting yet? Great that you didn't lose any this winter! All of mine except 1 are splitting still, slow but surely, I hope. 😁 It's finally warming up and they are getting more sun, so hopefully they continue splitting.

😂 I will DEFINITELY threaten them with your watering technique, that should scare the blooms right out of them! :gig

And yes you DO NEED a Peanut Cactus, they are super adorable!! ❤️

Here is what one of them looked like last July, so yes they can become monsters...

GET A PEANUT CACTUS!!!!!!! 💞

Yeah, it’s definitely a tough love kind of situation. Doesn’t always work out. You’re right, as long as they haven’t rotted, there’s hope to be had. Glad to read that you also had no losses due to mildly overwatering.

Had to look up that common name. Yup, those are the ones I have! Super easy and gorgeous plants. Gorgeous flowers too.

My lithops are pretty much where yours are in their cycle. Two are done, one is pretty much done, and my oldie has barely started.

As much as I love my slow growing lithops, having a fast growing succulent is super fun. There’s just something about seeing yearly progression photos and seeing the plant doubling in tripling in growth is just super rewarding

Astros. ❤️

I'm on the fence on these Lithops, I've managed to keep them alive and they look fine but they are boring. 😂 I agree with you, I like to see growth in plants, you can just see their joy as they reach towards the light. Lithops just sort of stare back at you, like they just don't care. 😁

That's part of the draw I have towards orchids. Darn buggers always make me worried I'm not doing a good enough job watering, but they're colorful and they also still grow

I love this analogy:lau:lau:lau.

Not sure if I agree, though (not that there is any reason we should :p , people will have different preferences and that is far from a negative thing). I absolutely love the lithops. A huge PITA at times, but sooo rewarding. I don’t know exactly why I love them so much, but I find them far more interesting than any other succulent I’ve ever had. Still, as mentioned above, having a fast growing succulent or two (or twenty:oops:) to balance things out isn’t bad at all

The things that drive us most crazy are the things we just gotta have! 😁 Orchids are gorgeous plants, I just can't keep them alive. Do you have any photos? 😊

See, this is the beauty of succulents, there are SO many varieties and we all have our favorites, the ones that really tug at our hearts! ❤️ We all need plants that can shake our foundation in a good way. I am SUPER glad you enjoy keeping and caring for Lithops, I am sure yours thrive because you care so much about them! 💞 And I do enjoy mine as well, I do have a few cacti that really call to me however and that's great that Lithops call to you!! 😊
