TOMTE
Chicks from the Disc
Do you have a picture of the kalanchoe?
Is it the flowering kind? If so, my very limited experience with them tells me that they enjoy quite a bit of water. Not as much sunlight as your typical succulent too. Maybe a repotting with some good well-draining soil would help as well
I think mine is a "flaming katy". It looked much better when she gave it to me, but I think it was still stretching a bit (can't remember). It's still hanging in there obviously because there are tiny new leaves sprouting out of some spots. Oh, and it did flower not long ago (tiny red flowers)I have a Kalanchoe, it is VERY easy to keep! They don't like intense direct sunlight but can tolerate some early morning sun. I keep mine under grow lights and it's been flowering since December! (Sorry Fluffy, I forgot to mention this plant yesterday and it's flowers.![]()
)These plants are succulents and do store water like any other succulent. They like fast draining soil, so no straight potting mix, the plant doesn't like to be waterlogged long. But here is the easy part, notice after you give it a good deep watering...feel the leaves 24 hours later, gently, they will be nice and stiff. However as it uses its reserves, the leaves get soft and a bit rubbery. Time to water! Easy peasy! I find that mine needs water approximately every 3 weeks, give or take a few days all winter long. (It never went dormant.) In the summer it may need water every 2 weeks depending on heat and longer light, it may be a summer dormant plant, I'm not sure. Give yours bright light, fast draining soil, water only when leaves start to get soft and rubbery and it should thrive!

The grow light is on the lowest brightness setting and on a 12 hours on/off timer. The next lowest setting is 8 hours and that wasn't enough, it started dropping leaves like crazy.
I don't remember what the soil is but I do know I purposely used a well draining type for cacti and other succulents. IIRC I bought it specifically for the kalanchoe, it does drain quick, and dries out fast.
