My isabel leghorns were notorious for those eggsOn another note, I was greeted by this monstrosity in the 'regular' ducks' nest this morning:

It weighed in at 4.91 oz / 139 g! I feel so sorry for the poor girl that laid this!

Hmmm, not sure. I had a Wyandotte cockerel that I simply adored last year. So much so I bought three chicks this year. I hear Cochin (standard size) are nice so far as personality, and they can double as a duster. In the smaller breeds, I love my OEGB, very friendly, easy to handle, BROODY, actually looks like a chicken but in tiny format. And polish are a no as well. All other breeds are welcome. My thing is mostly normal looking birds, that have one or two unique characteristics, and a good personality. That's what I'm trying to find

Brahma wouldn't do well in the heat either, I don't think. I'd like to get some, but they take a while to get to mature weight.I've been seeing a lot of Wyandotte here, so I'm definitely considering it. OEGB I haven't found any but it's a breed I'd like to keep, not sure about breeding. LF cochins I've heard don't do well in hot climates. I'm also finding a lot of brahma, australorp, BR, lakenvelder, marans and araucan![]()
